Right at the tip of the Liaodong peninsula lies a delightful seaside municipality which claims to be North China's most cosmopolitan and beautiful modern city. Dalian's famously capable local government has invested much in cosmetic development over the last ten years, and Dalian is about to undergo its most radical changes yet as the three major sub-city centres unite to become Greater Dalian, set to emerge as the Hong Kong of Liaoning province and the Northeast.

The city proper is small enough to get to know intimately very quickly, and International enough to hold its own on the World stage as one of China's most attractive cities.
